Leela recognises that in order to feel reassured and safe, clients must be able to soothe themselves when challenging emotions arise. She teaches methods to cope with stressors without destructive strategies like self-harm, drug abuse or dissociating. She supports clients with shame and self-criticism using Compassionate Mind Therapy within the DBT model, helping challenge perceptions of the external world as solely critical and the internal self as inherently disliked.
